Help GardenShare Celebrate our Community Food Heroes

Now accepting submissions through Sunday, December 6, 2020.

Every year, GardenShare honors an individual or organization that is making strides toward a more just food system in St. Lawrence County with the Growing Community Award and Social. The world looks very different this year so GardenShare is putting the Growing Community Award on hold to honor the community in a new way. So many individuals have stepped up to do the challenging work of making sure people continue to have access to food throughout these uncertain times and we want to hear all about them!

This year, GardenShare wants YOU to help us celebrate our Community Food Heroes by sending us a short video highlighting someone who you think embodies the role of Community Food Hero.

This might be someone who...

  • taught a friend how to make preserves
  • organized food distribution programs
  • kept the community informed about food resources
  • taught students about local food
  • volunteered at a farmers market or food pantry
  • raised money for a local food charity
  • farmed
  • or supported or strengthened the food system in St. Lawrence County in some way during 2020

These videos will be gathered and shared on our website and social media from January 18-22, 2021 during our digital celebration of Community Food Heroes.

This event is not a competition; there will be no winners. We simply want to give our community a chance to offer heartfelt thanks to the often unsung heroes that help keep us fed.
