GardenShare is the recipient of the inaugural Exemplary Service Award given by the Canton Community Fund. The award is designed to recognize an individual or organization "demonstrating an exemplary and unyielding commitment to the promotion, enrichment, or strengthening of the community, whose actions set the standard and serve to impress, instill, and motivate their fellow citizens to contribute to the common good of Canton, New York." The award was presented to GardenShare board vice president Heather Sullivan-Catlin and GardenShare director Phil Harnden by Chris Angus, president of the Canton Community Fund at the group's annual dinner on November 1. The presentation cited GardenShare's "continued efforts to provide sustainable local foods in Canton and the North Country as a whole."
